Chicago Hip Hop Organizing Group Presents First Hip Hop Film Festival

Dr. King's Birthday Weekend in Chicago will never be the same!

The Chicago Host Committee for the 2006 National Hip Hop Political Convention is gearing up to bring the very first Thank God for Hip Hop Film Festival and ACTION Conference to the city that will be host to the Convention in July 2006.

WHAT: The Festival will highlight award-winning films including Old School classic Krush Groove, controversial White Boys Can't Rap, and a visual presentation by Chicago Hip Hop Pioneer, Cashus D of Zulu Nation. There will be lively discussions and Q&A sessions with actors, directors and panelists such as Lexx Luger and Sam Greenlee. Dr. King's legacy in this city will be a major focal point with the screening of the civil right's documentary, " Dr. King and the Chicago Movement." The finale will be an outstanding concert performance by Chicago's hottest Hip Hop talent, Qualo and SB.

WHY: Through the Thank God for Hip Hop Film Festival and Action Conference, the Chicago Host Committee for the 2006 National Hip Hop Political Convention in conjunction with the Chicago Local Organizing Committee a not-for-profit 501c3 organization, aims to explore and encourage the use of the arts to express, empower and educate the community at large.  The Film Festival will be a catalyst in preserving and promoting Hip Hop Culture as a means to instill and reinforce community values, principles and behavior.

As part of the organizing efforts around the 2006 National Hip Hop Political Convention, the Chicago Host Committee will actively work to plan, coordinate and manage the 2006 National Hip Hop Political Convention. This will involve fundraising, promotions and the hosting of special events leading up to the July Convention.
