Bean Soup Times News Release Distribution Service

What is a news release?
A news release which is sometimes called a press release, press statement, or media release and is a document issued to media and consumers to announce you, your product, service or cause. To really grab a reporter’s attention, your story must be newsworthy. If a media outlet is interested in your release, they will publish it as a print article and/or blog. A radio or TV station may mention it on-air or conduct an on-air interview with someone from your company/organization.
How does this service work?
We provide a news release distribution service. We will send your news release to our media outlet database of 300 plus which includes national urban radio shows, local mainstream media outlets as well as Black media outlets, reporters and bloggers. We will also feature your article on BeanSoupTimes.com and BeanSoupSociety.com—our online media outlets that attract 400 to 500 hits daily combined.

How much does it cost?
Only $100 and this includes minor typo and basic grammar proofing, one photo and one video or audio link at no additional charge.
Photos and video/audio links help increase your visibility chances. Provided by you, we can include those for no additional charge.
For an additional $50, we will feature your news release in our Bean Soup Times email newsletter to 16,000 and mention it to our 8,000 Facebook friends and 2,000Twitter followers.
Can you guarantee media coverage?
No. We have no control over what media outlets, reporters and bloggers choose to write about. What we do guarantee is that we will send your information to them. We’ve been in the media and public relations business for a long time now and have gotten huge, front page coverage before and we can do it again. We guarantee that we are respected and have built relationships over the year that can help you get the coverage you seek, but no, we cannot guarantee media coverage. We will give you solid advice to help you achieve your goals.
Where exactly do you send it?
Here's a list of the media outlets (this is a partial list that does not include each reporter on our list)

How To Write A Great News Release
A news release is a document issued to media and consumers to announce you, your product, service or cause. To really grab a reporter's attention, your story must be newsworthy.
Keep your news release to only one page. Either use letterhead or logo Use this format:
1. All News Releases start with “FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE” at the top in the left hand corner, and always in CAPS.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2. Contact Info - Then write your contact info:
Contact: your name, phone number, e-mail address and website (optional – you can also put it at the bottom).
3. Headline - Next comes the Headline of the News Release (bold, and no more than two lines. I prefer title case instead of all Caps BECAUSE IT IS HARDER TO READ LETTERS THAT ARE ALL CAPS):
Toure Muhammad Knocks Out Superman in Ultimate Fight Championship
4. Opening Paragraph or Lead Paragraph
The Opening Paragraph should start with City, State, Date so the reader knows where the information is coming from. This should be in parenthesis.
(Chicago, IL June 20, 2007)
5. Next Part of the Opening Paragraph – the 5 W’s:
This should always have the 5 W’s of Press Releases - who, what, when, where, and why – It should be a full description of what you are trying to convey.
6. Second Paragraph:
This is the “meat” of your press release so make it good! It should include further information and more details, an engaging story, a quote about your product, service or cause. You want to explain what makes you stand out. Also include strong quotes from others, i.e. industry leader, fan, reviewer, etc.
7. Any Additional Contact Info:
If you want to add your mailing address, a link to your website, a list of where your product can be purchased or any more contacts do so here.
8. DO NOT include sales advertisement language. News releases are to inform, not sell.
9. Write in third person.
10. The 3 # # #’s or End
# # # indicate the press release is finished or you can simply write “end” and center it.
